A Community Renewed: Ezra

Comments Off on A Community Renewed: Ezra

Over the next 4 weeks we will be exploring the book of Ezra in all our English services (8am, 9:30am, and 6:30pm).

The basic theme of Ezra is, “A Community Renewed“. It is set after 538BC when the Jews returned from exile in Babylon to the promised land. It is about the renewal of the temple and the spiritual, moral, and social renewal of the people of God. This did not come without problems, both externally and internally. Ezra (along with Nehemiah) recount some of these struggles. However, through it all, God’s faithfulness and sovereignty is abundantly clear.

Our prayer is that through this time in Ezra we will all be spiritually renewed. Our hope is that you will be amazed again by the power and faithfulness of our great God and grow to become more mature disciples of his Son, who brings ultimate renewal. We hope that this will express itself in greater security in our identity as the people of God, and sincerity in living that out, to the glory of God.

On Sunday September 11 we combine all our congregations together for our annual Thanksgiving Service. We will meet at 10am in the main church building and the service will be in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin and will be a wonderful expression of our unity in the Lord Jesus Christ. It will be followed by a great multi-cultural morning tea together. If you can bring something to share that would be amazing!

Under God we hope to raise $40,000 at this thanksgiving service to be distributed to the following projects:

  • Children’s Playground
  • Car Park
  • Christian Community Aid (CCA)
  • Chinese Christian Mission Australia (CCMA)
  • Marsden High School Scripture (SRE)

We look forward to seeing you all at 10am on Sunday September 11th.

We Are: Ephesians

We Are_4by3_v02

Who are we?

People associate so many different ideas with the “church”. For some it is the stain glass windows, to others it is a social club, and others a sinking institution.

But the letter to the Ephesians in the Bible, paints a very different picture of who “we are” as the church.

Please join us on Sunday nights over the next 7 weeks as we explore our true identity “in Christ”and how this can reshape the way we think and act in this world as the people of God.

Join us this Sunday at morning Church as we begin a new 4 week series on Grace – from Romans 9-12. We’ll be thinking through how we respond to God’s grace in his election and calling – and what that means for us in our faith and the way we share the gospel.

8am and 9:30am English services.

Love Song: Song of Songs

The Song of Songs is a unique book of the bible. It’s explicit language has certainly caused many to blush or giggle as it is read. Some may have grown up with the joke that Song of Songs is the “sealed section” of the Bible, a book only to read when you are over 18! Yes it has lyrics about “tasting” and “touching”, but it is not crude (unlike much of contemporary Top 40 music!). It is THE LOVE SONG OF LOVE SONGS presenting to us a vision of what genuine human love and intimacy can look like, against the backdrop of a world which has gone so far awry in this arena.

Join us at our Sunday Night Church (6:30pm) over the next 8 weeks as we dive into this beautiful song. Our hope for this series is that we can move beyond the giggles and see that Song of Songs has much to communicate to us about the nature and focus of genuine love, a love flowing from the very heart of God.
